Global Bikepacking: Markus Stitz’s Epic Journey from Scotland to Germany

Watch as cyclist Markus Stitz bikepacks from Scotland to Germany, joined by Guinness World Record holder Mark Beaumont along the way. Markus, who cycled 34,000km unsupported around the world on a single-speed mountain bike in 2016, rode from Edinburgh to Erfurt in Germany on a gravel cargo bike, battling bitter winds and wintry conditions over eight days. For two days, he was joined by Mark Beaumont and local riders and arrived in Erfurt on December 22nd. Markus also visited the Hase Bikes Schaltwerk factory in Waltrop, North Rhine-Westphalia, where the bike originated from. He documented the trip and released a short video about it.
